Riding into work today I was thinking about what would bring the maximum number of people to our market, the original Camden Lock Market. It's very difficult to persuade people that there is a difference to any of the sites in Camden, and weather or not you would notice is debatable.
We try not to let too many traders selling the same stock into the same areas of our market, we also don't let similar food traders on our market at all. So just so you know, if you are in Camden and see three Chinese, Thai and Indian stalls selling the retroactive Orange chicken, you are not on the original Camden Lock Market!

Winter is... not here yet.

I'm starting a new approach to this blog, its going to be less about the stalls and more about the traders and politics of the market, without offending anyone or giving away the secrets of the inner workings of this well oiled machine. The best test is time, and our best stalls have lasted, good produce/product makes the difference and you've got to be tough, all through the winter standing on the bits of cardboard to keep your toes warm. Hold on a minute its 30 degrees outside no-one is even thinking of the winter. Camden Lock Market is packed with tonnes of food stalls in the West Yard and more than twenty stalls fashioning fashion wear mens or womens hippies or hipsters, you want it your way, we got it.

If you come to Camden enough you will start to experience events in the evening that aren't advertised in any Listings mags, they wont even be on FaceTwitt that's how cutting edge we are. Lower K is proving to be a secret hive of little gems. We had a Roots sound system banging away on Thursday night with food stalls and rastafari memorabilia. Many people lost in the bass, but if your not here you'll miss out.

I'm not aware of a better, wider range of food in the whole of London. This Camden Lock Street Food market is a really buzzing place to eat right now, with so much choice and really good flavors. From the market hall in Camden Lock Market you can buy anything from real Pearls, Amber and other pretty things. The energy from the place is as if it was on a lay line. The new shop on the bridge is there for all your sewing needs with buttons a plenty and patches to accessorise your clothes to make you more original. With two great pubs here too Lockside lounge and Lock 17 to quench your thirst after your hard days shop!

The boats leave from the lock hourly if you would like they will drop you off at the zoo for a bit of banter with the baboons. You can even get picked up and dropped right back in Camden Lock Market for some food or just to soak up the atmosphere. The air really needed freshening up a bit so the rainy days are welcome and the stalls are all here with there fresh products in Camden Lock Market. If you are planning a little visit make sure you have a hungry belly and a big bag for carrying all the lovely treasures you'll find on you adventure. Today we have vintage cameras to get that original vintage feel to your pics, none of this iphone app nonsense. The foodies we have range from jerk chicken @mamasjerk on twitter or @cookiesscream cookies that only use the best ingredients like unrefined sugar to make the nicest cakes and cookies in the world.. in my opinion

New Russian stall in the West yard looks and smells as good as a bakery. The market is FULL of food stalls again, all week, so if you are a food lover get down here and sample the flavour of the world.

The best of the best even have a chance of starting up at the weekend. The great thing is, when you have eaten your lovely meal you can have a look around the rest of the market and pick up a really nice something to take home with you.

I might turn this into a food blog, I think we all know how much cool stuff there is at Camden to buy. You have vintage clothes, all manner of jewellery and just tonnes of lovely things. But in the West Yard this year the street food market is really taking off. I am going to keep you as informed as possible as to what's happening. Today we have Louis and his crepe stall, Murat with his lovely vegetarian Turkish cuisine, traditional dumplings, dim sum mm mmm mmmm, fresh smoothies and of course how could we forget the worlds best kebabs!

Exciting times in the market, all the indoor food units are having a face-lift, some of the management need a face-lift and there are always dogs in the West yard having a face-off. See what I did. Lets talk about the wharf as-well, it's getting a re-vamp, lots of nice new bits of wood for the West Yard. Maybe this will bring the country out of recession, or maybe it wont. x

Camden Lock Market is, in my opinion the best place in London to come and visit. We have bloody everything here, and you can get to so many other attractions on foot. There arnt many places in the world like it, with it's diverese mix of traders, shops and attractions. You don't really even need to spend a penny..... i've got to go sorry.

Spring watch at Camden Lock Market... The swans that reside near the Pirate castle are bobbing around in Hampstead Road Lock, Starlings are perched, ready for the food stalls to arrive. There are some fine examples of pigeons nestled on the window sills, well Camdens finest examples, these birds all have tattoos and piercings and when they wake up, it's to the sound of Jimi or Bob. If you look really carefully on a sunny day you can find little fishes swimming about in the canal, so what's springy about that I ask myself, I dunno really.

Lamb rosemary and red win pie is what I ate today, and if you all agree to come out to to Camden Lock Market I will introduce you to the best pies in the world (my opinion). Im sure I saw Ellie Goulding sampling a portion too, but I might be mistaken.

It's a canal not a river, just for your information and my fact for the day is that....The structure covering the East yard was transported by the canal.

So another year is upon us, and everything is settling back down to normal. There are a few more joggers trying to lose those turkey pounds, but they are getting distracted by our lovely West Yard food stalls. We are mixing it up a bit with a new Caribbean stall, and some of our Middle yardies moving to the West, just while some of our regulars take a short deserved break. The sales are always on at Camden Lock Market.

What could be better than a stroll round Camden Lock Market, in the drizzle? Come and experience the damp cold... Hold on we have a market hall! You can stay dry and browse to your hearts content, and the roast chestnuts are on hand to warm you up for the stroll back to the tube station.

The Snow has cleared, the temperature is on the rise and it's the shortest day of the year, that means the summer is on it's way... Well you've got to be optimistic don't you!
Snowball fights where the order of Saturday, if you where here you would have witnessed an epic battle across the canal, i'm secretly hoping for more snow so we can carry on this week but it's not looking to promising.
Gifts, presents goodies and all things nice are available right until Christmas eve here, so don't fret too much about not having all your prezzies.

Wool'dnt you know it but we have lots of wooly jumpers at a very good price, even some 100% cashmere jobbies, imported from Scotland straight from the maker so you don't pay any hidden extras, just what the wool is worth, cosy as a penguin in a huddle. There's mulled wine a plenty and roasted chestnuts too, scarf's hats gloves and sox aswell so you can leave Camden lock Market as warm as a open fire.

I was back in my little village, Crouch End the other night, and a friend stopped me and asked if I still worked in Camden Lock Market, yes I replied, he said have you had a pie from the pieman?! I happen to have had one of every flavour, Chicken & Mushroom, steak and kidney, veggie and fish pies to die for.

So the word is spreading about the food here, we are improving and this is just the start of things to come.

I am a food lover, all food makes me happy but good food makes me ecstatic! This is why we are bringing in the best of our midweek food stalls to trade at the weekend. Pie Man, Portuguese, Food in the Middle and fresh Indian (Sonjitas) are all here on Saturdays and Sunday WOOOOO HOOOOOO is all I can say. These stalls are making fresh healthy food adding to our wide variety of foods form around the world already on offer.

Chimney Cake

Despite the wet start we have loads of interesting stalls here today. The Chimney cake stall in the West Yard is serving up sweet smelling cakes which believe it or not, look a lot like chimney. Our beloved pie man is here too, Portuguese, Pure earth and Louis crepes are all here just to service your stomachs. If you look in the Middle yard you will find some traditional English fudge, alongside Miguel selling Mexican masks. Hmmmm all this food talk is making me hungry, i'm off to test all the food. Ymmy yummy yummy.

In the wild wild West yard today we have Sonitas Kitchen, fine Indian food made from fresh ingredients cooked using olive oil, you can really taste the health! Choose from Vegetable, Prawn, Chicken or lamb curry and a mix of sweet or spicy chutneys. The food in Camden Lock Market is really moving to another level.

So it's all about the new pieman in the West Yard today, dedicated and with a excellent set of taste buds. So far I've had the chicken and mushroom, steak + ale and the fish pies.. and inside, well, juicy lumps of meat fish and flavour all topped with perfect puff pastry. He is here during the week Mon-Fri so if you like good food come down and see what we have on offer. The usual quality food stalls are here at the weekend too.

The leaves on the willow over the lock are almost out, this means its warming up and the terraces of the lockside bar and Lock 17 are no longer reserved for those having a fag. The warmth of spring saw a change of fashions on the market this weekend. Gone where the gloves hats and woolly jumpers, gone too where the mulled wine stalls, replaced with pina-coladas and fresh fruit juices. It's only a matter of time before the Havaianas are out of the cupboard and on your feet. Don't you just love the sunshine!

We love to eat, and eating is essential. Today (Friday) in the west yard we have, Harrys foot long smoked hotdogs, Polish + Czech, Hungarian, French Crepes and traditional English food stalls. This makes it hard no to get very very fat, having to sample all the delights is such a hard task. I think having all these different choices does liven up the day, and inspires new ideas when cooking. So the sun is out, we have chairs and tables ready for you to to enjoy a good old munch for lunch.

New Milkshake Shop In the East Yard

It’s raining in Camden Lock Market, but we have still have our most hardy food stall holder Louis, outside in the West yard selling the best crepes in the world (fact). Plus our normal indoor food area is open for business. Up in the East yard the Hippy Hippy Shake company has just opened their latest store and I can tell you from personnel experience that its worth a visit. With every milkshake flavour imaginable you won’t come away disappointed. I recommend peanut M&M’s mmmmmmmmmm. So see you soon for some fantastic food!
